1900 Upper Class Women | Decades Collection | History: At the beginning of the decade the Gibson Girl silhouette was still popular. Modest dresses, bodies moulded by corsets, and ostentatious ornamentation where a prominent part of the decade. Corsets pushed bust forward and hips back, creating the infamous s-curved shape. It can also be noted that day dresses had blousy, high-collared bodices, evening gowns had more fitted bodices with low-cut necks. . Hats and gloves continue to be worn and shoes primarily consisted of lace-up boots or heels.
